Documenting the Personal Identification Number (JMB)


 

DOCUMENTING THE PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (JMB)

All citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who live in the United States are obligated to document their personal identification number in the electronic database of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CIPS). Please note that thus far, only those citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who have an identity card or a driver's license issued in Bosnia and Herzegovina after 2003 by CIPS have documented their personal identification numbers (JMB).

The process of documenting your personal identification number is done through the General Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Chicago by submitting the following original documents:

1. An original birth certificate of Bosnia and Herzegovina (this document cannot be older than 6 months)

2. An original certificate of citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, (this document cannot be be older than 6 months)

3. A completed JMB-7 form

4. A copy of a passport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (it is not necessary to send the passport itself)

After receiving the above documents, our consular staff will submit your personal number electronically to the appropriate authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will notify you via phone or mail once this step is completed.
